W401 Power controllers

Description

W401 Power Controllers

The Wattcor W401 series provides a complete range of solid-state power controllers designed for resistive loads, featuring “zero-crossing” switching and available in 45A and 100A current ratings with a nominal voltage of 460Vac.
These units serve as intelligent peripherals for industrial heat-treatment applications, operating under programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or computer systems.
A dedicated selector switch allows users to choose between external On/Off control (standard) or internal control mode, managed by a built-in microprocessor and configurable via a serial interface.
Through the RS485 MODBUS communication protocol, users can regulate key parameters such as power capacity and cycle timing, while precisely monitoring load voltage and RMS current values.
Additional data strings include details on device identification, diagnostics, and hardware configuration.
Conduction begins at the first zero crossing of the load’s power voltage upon activation of the control signal, while deactivation occurs at the first zero crossing of the load current once the control signal is disabled.
Control of three-phase loads can be achieved using two or three W401 units connected in parallel.
Each model includes a logic (active-low) input for disabling the controller or cutting off the power supply when necessary.
An auxiliary output of +15Vdc is also available to power external control circuits or inhibition logic inputs.
The W401 series is designed to deliver rated performance for current and voltage at ambient temperatures up to 40°C.
Optional ultra-fast internal fuses are available for all current ratings.
Signal wiring is simplified via plug-in connectors, while power terminals are integrated into the mounting socket for secure installation.
The device is panel-mounted using standard screw fittings.
