Description

The IMPACT series from Gefran are high-temperature pressure transmitters (up to 350°C) that operate without transmission fluid.
Medium pressure is transmitted directly to the sensitive silicon element via a thick diaphragm. Strain is converted by a micro-machined silicon structure (MEMS) using a piezoresistive principle. IMPACT is Gefran™'s exclusive high-temperature pressure sensor series utilizing this principle.

The defining feature of IMPACT sensors is the absence of transmission fluid. The sensitive element is placed directly behind the contact membrane and manufactured from silicon using advanced microprocessing techniques. This microstructure integrates the measurement membrane and piezoresistors. Because the element requires only minimal deflection, very robust mechanical designs can be used. The process contact membrane can be up to 35 times thicker than membranes in traditional melt sensors.
